November 2008
It’s already a year since Yorkshire Animal Ambulance started transporting animals Around the Region! The majority of calls we have received have thankfully been for routine visits to vets, but over a third were emergency calls where an animal required assistance fast. In many cases we have administered first aid prior to transporting the animal as quickly and safely as possible to a veterinary surgeon.
Sadly in a few too many cases we have been called out when an animal has already passed away. We have been able to help the owners in some slight way with their grief and transport their deceased animal to the vets for post mortem or cremation. This is one of the most distressing times for an owner and for us. As animal lovers we aim to be there whenever you need our help. We hope that with the support from our customers and vets alike, we will be able to provide our services for many years to come.

January 2008 - A difficult birth!
Normally we are faced with the difficult task of taking owners to have their dog to PTS and situations which, regardless of medical intervention, result in the loss of a beloved animal.

Yorkshire Animal Ambulance were pleased to be asked to assist a whelping bitch that was experiencing some difficulty and helped bring 2 stunning pups into the world!! It was a VERY long night, which turned into day and another trip to the vets; however we managed to avoid the need for a caesarean section. We were all quite relieved when all was over. The owner was relieved that we had stayed as one puppy got stuck and needed to be resuscitated.

We would like to thank the owner for staying calm and positive throughout and for asking us to help and trusting us. Also for the endless cups of tea on what was one of the longest nights we’ve had so far!!

Here is the proud mum “Mollie” with the puppy that needed help!
